Shake equal parts Gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc, and Lemon Juice (1 oz each makes a generous cocktail). Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, rinsed with absinthe; or garnish with licorice bitters, if you do not have absinthe on hand. (Or if you just prefer licorice bitters, like I do!)
Other adaptations of this drink call for a orange peel garnish, but I find the additional citrus oil overwhelms the balance of the other ingredients. The original recipe used a cherry for a garnish.

Frankenstein: Substitute light rum for the Lillet Blanc. The resulting cocktail will be less sweet, and higher in alcohol content.
Corpse Bride: Pour the shaken drink into a highball glass filled with ice. Top off with club soda.
